FAQS AND OUR PRODUCTS
What solution do we use?
We use Norvell. Norvell is a name synonymous with ground breaking sunless spray tanning innovation, continues to develop and manufacture technological breakthroughs in the sunless spray tan industry. Norvell has introduced a flurry of leading edge, award winning products to choose from.
What is DHA?
DHA is the main tanning ingredient used in all of Norvell's airbrush tanning solutions. DHA is dihydroxyacetone, a carbohydrate (monosaccharide sugar) compound approved by the FDA for use in externally applied sunless tanning solutions. DHA is usually derived from a vegetable source like beets or sugar cane. Its properties as a skin darkener were discovered in the 1920′s but weren’t marketed as such until the 1960′s when Coppertone® introduced Quick Tan®. It was added to the FDA’s list of approved cosmetic ingredients in the 1970′s.
Note: DHA has only been approved for external use by the FDA. The FDA recommends wearing protective eyewear, nose plugs, lip balm and undergarments during your spray tanning session to eliminate inhalation or ingestion. Wearing these during your spray tan session is not mandatory, and is up to your discretion.
What should I wear during my tanning session?
You can wear undergarments, a bathing suit, or nothing. Your chosen attire should be whatever you are completely comfortable with. It is our goal to make you feel completely comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process.
NOTE: Use of bathing suit or undergarments during the professional application process may cause permanent staining of the material. If these options are used, we recommend using old, or dark colored materials.
NOTE: Minimal amounts of cosmetic bronzer (which is water soluble) may transfer to your clothes after you redress and should not permanently stain your clothing. We do suggest wearing darker, loose, materials the day of your professional custom airbrush session.
How long will my spray tan last?
You can expect your airbrush spray tan to last anywhere between 5-7 days, and possibly up to 10. The life of your Tan depends on how well the recommended skin care regime is followed; before, during, and after the professional application. Factors may also include each individuals skin type, and skin chemistry. Individual results may vary.
Follow these steps to ensure a beautiful tan.
Preparing for your spray tan:
Preparation is the key to a perfect result. Simply follow these steps to achieve ultimate results:
-
Exfoliate thoroughly the night before your tan.
-
Remember to shave/wax the day before tanning to achieve optimum results. If you are getting a mani/pedi do so before the spray tan and remove all lotion.
-
Right before coming for your spray tan, take a shower with a clean washcloth (No soap as it can act like a barrier to the spray tan solution) scrub off any lotion, make up and deodorant.
-
Do not apply deodorant, moisturizer or wear make-up to your tanning session. These can act as a barrier to your tan and prevent even absorption.
-
Wear loose, dark clothing and underwear to your tanning appointment. The cosmetic bronzer in the tan may rub off slightly but will easily wash out of most fabrics. Do not wear jeans or tight pants after spray tan applied.
-
Wear open sandals or thongs to your tanning appointment - no socks or sneakers!
Post Spray Tan Procedures:
-
Avoid contact with water during the first 12-16 hours after your spray tan has been applied. Water is a spray tan's biggest enemy. Even small drips can leave a streak.
-
Wait at least 12-16 hours before showering following your tan application. You will see color washing off the first time you shower. This is just the bronzing agent, not your tan.
-
Apply a moisturizer as often as required following your post tan shower. Your tan will gradually fade until your next exfoliation and tanning session. Drier skin exfoliates quicker so moisturizing between sessions is essential to keep your tan alive.
-
Avoid long, hot showers/baths and pat skin dry. Do not rub!
-
Chlorine will shorten the length of your tan so avoid swimming pools and Jacuzzis following application.
